Roger Chartier es un historiador del libro y de la historia social de la cultura francesa admirado en el campo de estudios académicos de Iberoamérica. Desde la década de 1990 hasta nuestros días, visitó España y distintos países latinoamericanos, donde dictó sus conferencias y clases. Por ello, sus obras pueden leerse en castellano. Este libro alude a Chartier y a sus lectores, tal como reza el título, y reúne a un conjunto acotado de investigadores de Iberoamérica que explican cuándo conocieron a Chartier, qué han leído de él y, sobre todo, cómo se apropiaron de sus obras para sus investigaciones.Roger Chartier y sus lectores está destinado a estudiantes de grado y posgrado, a investigadores que trabajen la metodología y la epistemología en lo que se denomina “la cocina del historiador”, y además, a los interesados en la historia del libro, la historia social de la cultura y, para decirlo sin más, a los historiadores y cientistas sociales que tienen entre sus temas de trabajo pensar su propio oficio.
