Es hätte schlimmer kommen können, denkt Karl Kogler, ehemaliger Chefinspektor am beschaulichen Wörthersee, der wegen eines ... wie soll man sagen ... gröberen Fauxpas in Frühpension geschickt wurde. Doch die Ruhe währt nicht lang: Klaus Pechhofer, der Leiter vom Tourismusverband, erstickt beim Essen an einer Gräte. So scheint es zunächst. Schon bald stellt sich jedoch heraus, dass sein Wolfsbarsch-Carpaccio mit Blausäure vergiftet wurde. Als dann auch noch der Hoteldirektor Matthias Madritsch in der Wolfsgasse erstochen aufgefunden wird, will Kogler nicht länger Däumchen drehen. Mit eigenwilligen Methoden und reichlich Charme riskiert der liebenswerte Ermittler einen Blick hinter die Fassade der Urlaubsidylle. Denn eins ist sicher: Auch am sonst so friedlichen Wörthersee gibt es Wölfe im Schafspelz.
