Nanotubes and Nanowires (Nanoscience) C. N. Ram Rao, A. Govindaraj, Leela Srinivas Panchakarla The Royal Society of Chemistry, Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Series, Nanoscience & Nanotechnology Series No. 52, 3, 2022
Nanotubes (both of carbon and inorganic materials) can be made in a variety of ways, demonstrating a wide range of fascinating properties. Many of these, such as high mechanical strength and interesting electronic properties relate directly to potential applications. Nanowires have been made from a vast array of inorganic materials and provide great scope for further research into their properties and possible applications. Chapters in this book systematically describe the fundamentals and applications of nanotubes and nanowires, providing a comprehensive and up-to-date survey of the research area, including synthesis, characterisation, properties and applications. This new edition of Nanotubes and Nanowires includes an extensive list of references and is ideal both for graduates needing an introduction to the field of nanomaterials as well as for professionals and researchers in academia and industry. Review of Nanotubes and Nanowires 1st Edition: “This book does a truly admirable job of summarizing the literature in this rapidly changing field.” Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2006, 128, 4163-4164 Review of Nanotubes and Nanowires 2nd Edition: “Rao and Govindaraj do a superb job of distilling the huge literature on inorganic nanotubes and nanowires.” Chemistry & Industry, 2011, 24, 27

Chemical aspects of plastics recycling [proceedings of the symposium on Chemical Aspects of Plastics Recycling, held in UMIST, Manchester on 3-4 July 1996]; edited by W. Hoyle, D. R. Karsa Royal Society of Chemistry, Information Services; Royal Society of Chemistry, Special publication / Royal Society of Chemistry -- no. 199., Special publication (Royal Society of Chemistry (Great Britain)) -- no. 199., Cambridge, England, 1997
In this riveting tale, Paul Meier and Robert L. Wise provide a glimpse behind the veil of time, into the eye of the storm to witness how angels and demons battle for people's hearts and souls. The Third Millennium has remained a bestseller since it came out in early 1993. The partnership that began with Paul Meier and Robert L. Wise in that book extended to The Fourth Millennium, which has been a steady best-seller as well. Using the backdrop of their travels together in Israel, they have attempted to put the secrets of the Scripture in an exciting form to help people prepare spiritually for their struggles as the world becomes an increasingly difficult place to live.

Metals and Chemical Change D. A Johnson; Kiki Warr; Ronald Dell; Royal Society of Chemistry (Great Britain); Open University Royal Society of Chemistry ; Open University, Lightning Source Inc. (Tier 3), Cambridge, 2002

This book looks at how molecules react, and how the feasibility and outcome of chemical reactions can be predicted. Beginning with an introduction to the concept of an activity series of metals, Metals and Chemical Change then introduces chemical thermodynamics (enthalpy, entropy and free energy) and applies the concept to both inorganic and organic elements. A Case Study on batteries and fuel cells is also included. The accompanying CD-ROM includes video sequences of the reactions of metals with water, acid and aqueous ions, and gives the reader an opportunity to make experimental observations and predictions about chemical behaviour. A comprehensive Data Book of chemical and physical constants is included, along with a set of interactive self-assessment questions. The Molecular World series provides an integrated introduction to all branches of chemistry for both students wishing to specialise and those wishing to gain a broad understanding of chemistry and its relevance to the everyday world and to other areas of science. The books, with their Case Studies and accompanying multi-media interactive CD-ROMs, will also provide valuable resource material for teachers and lecturers. (The CD-ROMs are designed for use on a PC running Windows 95, 98, ME or 2000.)

The breadth and depth of knowledge of gums and stabilisers has increased tremendously over the last two decades, with researchers in industry and academia collaborating to accelerate the growth. Gums and Stabilisers for the Food Industry 11 presents the latest research in the field ofhydrocolloids used in food. Bringing together contributions from international experts, the first section of the book investigates the advances in structure determination and characterization of hydrocolloids, including the use of capillary electrophoresis. Later sections deal with rheological aspects of hydrocolloids in solutions and gels; the application of hydrocolloids in real food systems; and the interfacial behaviour and gelation of proteins. A discussion of the influence of hydrocolloids on human health is also included. Researchers and other professionals in industry and academia, particularly those involved directly with food science, will welcome this title as a source of the very latest information.

Heterocyclic chemistry. Volume 4 : A review of the literature abstracted between July 1981 and June 1982 H Suschitzky; O Meth-Cohn; G. V Boyd; Royal Society of Chemistry (Great Britain) Royal Society of Chemistry, The Ingram Publisher Services [distributor, Lightning Source Inc. (Tier 3), London, 1985
Annotation Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume
