Advances in Blended Learning: Second Workshop on Blended Learning, WBL 2008, Jinhua, China, August 20-22, 2008, Revised Selected Papers (Lecture Notes in Computer Science, 5328) Elvis Wai Chung Leung; Fu Lee Wang; Lanfang Miao; Jianmin Zhao; Jifeng He SpringerLink [host, Springer Nature, Berlin, Heidelberg, 2008
The Second Workshop of Blended Learning (WBL 2008), as part of the 7th Inter- tional Conference on Web-Based Learning (ICWL 2008), was held in Zhejiang N- mal University, Jinhua, Zhejiang, China during August 20–22, 2008. WBL 2008 provided an international forum for the dissemination of original results in the design, implementation, and evaluation of blended learning systems and related areas. In particular, the aim of WBL 2008 was to bring together researchers from academia as well as commercial developers from industry to explore ideas, exchange and share experiences, and further build the blended learning research network. The inspirations and new ideas were expected to emerge from intensive discussions during formal sessions and social activities. The main focus of WBL 2008 was on the most critical areas of blended learning, namely, ‘e-Learning Platforms and Tools,’ ‘Design, Model and Framework of e- Learning Systems,’ ‘Practice and Experience Sharing,’ and ‘Pedagogical Issues.’ In total, the workshop selected 17 papers from authors of different countries for presen- tion and publication, a task which was not easy due to the high quality of the subm- ted papers. Using stringent selection criteria, submissions were rigorously reviewed based on their originality, significance, relevance, and clarity of presentation by an international Program Committee from Germany, Spain, UK, Italy, Ireland, Romania, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, and Macao. Health, Wellbeing, Competence And Aging (Annals Of Traditional Chinese Medicine Book 6) Ping-Chung Leung Jean Woo and Walter Kofler World Scientific Publishing Co. Pte. Ltd., World Scientific Publishing Company, Singapore, 2013
The fear of death may translate into the desire for longevity. However, longevity is a true blessing only if it is coupled with good health. Healthiness, in today's expectation, is not simply a disease free state. Rather, it is very much a state of wellbeing and competence, both physically and socially. While Oriental medicine emphasizes on the promotion of physiological balance and internal balance as an integral requirement for longevity, other cultures also have various sophisticated concepts and orientations. This book successfully collates all the different views and approaches from Austria, Russia, China and Japan in the exploration of Health, Wellbeing, Competence and Aging.

Текущий обзор китайской медицины: контроль качества трав и травяных материалов The second volume of this book series on the modern practice of Chinese medicine continues with the focus on evidence-based TCM research. It is focused on detailed information about the best sources of herbal supply and its quality control required for research and drug development purposes. Herbal quality has always been a major concern for TCM researchers because it is difficult to know which is of the best quality. Some other popular topics are also entertained.

The Second Edition of this book is a rearranged and enriched version of the previous edition, composed of feedback and constructive comments from readers. Metaphor, Metonymy, the Body and the Environment (Elements in Cognitive Linguistics) Jeannette Littlemore, Marianna Bolognesi, Nina Julich Warpakowski, Chung-hong Danny Leung, Paula Perez Sobrino Cambridge University Press, PS, 2023
By exploring the associations that people make between emotions and colours, looking at how they vary across languages, and exploring the explanations that people provide for the associations that they make, this Element provides insight into the ways in which humans express emotions through colour, and the reasons why they do so. Metaphoric (and metonymic) language and thought play a key role on several levels in the formation of emotion–colour associations, interacting with physical, environmental and social factors. A strong metaphorical connection between the valence of the emotion and the lightness of the colours with which it is associated, and between the intensity of an emotion and the saturation level of the colours with which it is associated is found. However, the strength of this association varies according to the linguistic background of the speaker, and the gender in which the emotion is presented.

Standing Watch : American Submarine Veterans Remember the Cold War Era Jonathan Li-Chung Leung The University of Alabama Press, University of Alabama Press, Tuscaloosa, AL, 2019
The first book to capture and preserve the inside story of the exclusive brotherhood that manned the front lines of the Cold War Featuring interviews from seventeen veteran submariners, Standing Watch: American Submarine Veterans Remember the Cold War Era offers the perspective of the submariners themselves—lending them a voice and paying homage to their service. Jonathan Li-Chung Leung provides an original glimpse into a world of unique challenges and characters, a life isolated and submerged, and a duty defined by the juxtaposition of monotonous routine and unparalleled excitement. These personal accounts of life below the surface offer readers a front-row seat to close encounters with Soviet submarines and the naval blockade during the Cuban Missile Crisis, as well as an intimate understanding of daily life onboard the vessels, the culture of military discipline, and the religious-like fervor exercised in honoring traditions big and small. By applying first-hand perspectives to a larger thematic overview, this book uses authentic narratives to deliver a lively and colorful picture of the Silent Service. Set against the backdrop of sobering geo-political disputes and their own role as the nation's defenders against a seemingly ambiguous super-enemy, these veterans focus on their responsibilities and reflect on careers built on the simple axioms of pride and service. This invigorating and unalloyed account is an unprecedented addition to the existing literature on naval and military history.

Tony Leung Chiu-Wai (Film Stars) Mark Gallagher; ProQuest (Firm) British Film Institute; Bloomsbury, Bloomsbury UK, London, 2018
Tony Leung Chiu-Wai investigates the rich, prolific career of an acclaimed leading man of Hong Kong and Chinese film and television: the star of more than 70 films and dozens of television series, and the only Hong Kong actor to earn the Cannes Film Festival's best-actor award. This book addresses the dynamics of media stardom in Hong Kong, mainland China and the East Asian region, including the importance of television series for training and promotion; the phenomenon of regional, transmedia stardom across popular entertainment genres; and cultural and political considerations as performers move among different East Asian production environments. Attentive to Leung's position in both East Asian and global screen cultures, the book addresses relations among acting, global stardom and internationally circulating film genres and acclaimed directors. Overall, this unique study of Leung – who the New York Times calls “one of the world's last true matinee idols” – illuminates challenges and opportunities for Chinese screen actors in local, regional and global cultural and industrial contexts.
