The purpose of this guide is to provide both basic understanding of statistical concepts (know- why) as well as practical tools to analyse quantitative data in SPSS (know-how). We wanted to keep the guide completely free of formulas (i.e. brain-freezing mathematical equations). In doing so, we have tried to explain everything at the most elementary level and only include aspects that are important in actual research. As such, this guide is pragmatic and research-oriented. Hopefully, you will find it useful. This guide consists of two parts. The first part (Chapters 1-5) concerns various aspects concerning data management and descriptive statistics. Next, we discuss issues related to statistical significance (Chapter 6). The following part deals with some basic types of statistical analysis, such as t-tests, ANOVA, chi-square, correlation analysis, and factor analysis (Chapters 7-10). Then we discuss theoretical and practical dimensions of regression analysis (Chapters 11- 12) before continuing into how to actually conduct regression analysis, including interaction analysis (Chapters 13-17). There are two data materials used in the guide. The first is “SPSS\_Data1” which is mostly based on a hypothetical data set available through SPSS. The second is “SPSS\_Data2”, which is primarily based on several waves of data collection related to the Word Values Survey.

We buy to fit in or to make others envious, using funds we shouldn’t have access to. OUR SOCIETY TRAINS US TO LACK DISCIPLINE. WHAT YOU NEED IS A DIFFERENT TRAINING REGIMEN. Rather than reinforcing the habits that keep you average in comparison to who you can be and what you could have already accomplished, try a different approach. I’ve spent years, well over a decade, trying to crack the code of discipline, and while it should seem simple, to be disciplined you just have to be disciplined, it really isn’t. Discipline requires structure and direction, and if you don’t create the right structure, one that allows as much freedom as it does anything, you’re not going to remain disciplined for that long – and discipline without longevity isn’t discipline, it’s a fad, and it’s useless. On top of that, discipline commands that you have a clear idea of where you want to be, who you want to be, and what you want to accomplish. Much of our quest to become disciplined can be justifiably spent on figuring out what we want to be disciplined on. And then there’s distractions and the Resistance. We may want to be disciplined, we may know what we should spend our time doing and what we want to accomplish, but we don’t actually do what we need to do. We still fail to create the right habits and avoid the bad ones even if we know what’s best for us. Smokers know that smoking is bad, yet they still do it even if they want to quit. Porn watchers do the same. Lazy people, the same. Fat people, skinny people, people who spend too much. They all know what they should be doing, and yet they don’t do it. I’ve been there. I’ve spent years trying to figure out how to become the disciplined man that my goals depend on me to become IN EVERY AREA OF MY LIFE. And while it’s still a work in progress, I’ve realized one very simple thing: WE STILL FAIL TO CREATE THE RIGHT HABITS AND AVOID THE BAD ONES EVEN IF WE KNOW WHAT'S BEST FOR US. No previous knowledge of punched cards is presumed. Apart from some of the problems, the book presumes no knowledge of mathematics beyond high school algebra. Both business and scientific applications are included; problems are provided in both areas. The topics are presented in the order in which they are most often covered. As far as practical, the coverages of PL/I, Fortran, COBOL, and Assembly Language are independent of each other so that the reader may omit topics at will. The book is written for the 360 Models 25, 30, 40, 50, 65, 75, and 85. It can be used with the Models 44, 67, 91, and 95, but the text does not point out which instructions are not found on the Model 44, or which interrupts are imprecise on the Models 91 and 95. The storage channel on Models 91 and 95, the special features available only on the Model 44, and the special time sharing features on the Model 67 are not covered. No attempt has been made to cover the Model 20. In general, the Disk Operating System and Operating System/360 features are covered in separate sections, so that the reader may elect to bypass those sections with which he is not concerned. The Tape Operating System and the Basic Operating system are fully covered. Partial coverage is given to the Basic Programming Support. The Model 44 Programming System and the Time Sharing System are not covered, although they are similar in most respects to Operating System/360. It is the purpose of this book to bring the reader up to the point where he can profitably read the various IBM manuals. Thus, no attempt has been made to cover every feature in the programming languages. Besides the text, the student should supply himself with a flowcharting template and with appropriate coding sheets. The use of special card electros has also been found helpful.
