lgli/Dr Satinder Singh Malik - Beyond Common Sense: An Exploration of Reality 1(2020, Dr Satinder Singh Malik).pdf
Beyond Common Sense: An Exploration of Reality 1 1 Dr Satinder Singh Malik Dr Satinder Singh Malik, 1, 1, 2020
What lies beyond common sense is the treasure of unmeasured potential. Sixth sense is a sense which connects human cognitive complex to the dimension of consciousness and it is known as ‘Pragyan’ in Sanskrit. In the forthcoming chapters in this book, a perspective of background environment is provided. Science gives too specific but overall sketchy information about the complete picture whereas Philosophy does a better job on this. Philosophy is also based on logic and reason but there is no need to establish proof in a laboratory and its scope is vast. To complete our lifetimes, we cannot await Science to buildup the complete picture and use that to carve a path for our lives. Some key questions have been answered as to how this universe came in to being? Big Bang theory assumed a primeval atom, and the source of this atom remained unresolved. Astronomers keep getting baffled after detecting matter in universe older than itself. A summary of the applicable dimensions has been proposed along with nature of various dimensions. Time is a substance which flows like a wave. Origin of human life and presence of distinctive racial features has been explored. Common information as to why there are 12 hours in a day or seven days in a week is also important steps in human understanding of life on this planet.A unique link between astronomy and astrology has been established by replenishing the information which went missing down the ages. A chapter on how to enhance the sixth sense is a practical guide which is simple and easy to follow. This information is not freely available in a concise and logical manner. Evolved human society has the potential to change the course of life on a planet. The change starts with us and we have to accept the challenge of enhancing our sixth sense to connect to a dimension of consciousness and fulfill the life’s goals.

The Jammu fox : a biography of Maharaja Gulab Singh of Kashmir, 1792-1857 Bawa Satinder Singh Ph.d. Southern Illinois University Press ; Feffer and Simons, Carbondale, Edwardsville, ©1974

This comprehensive biography depicts in depth the complex and controversial man who played a significant role in the history of northwestern India during the nineteenth century.

Described by his European contemporaries as "the Talleyrand of the East” and the "Ulysses of the hills,” Maharaja Gulab Singh was perhaps the most dexterous and successful Indian diplomat of the nineteenth century. At a time when other Indian states were falling to the British, Gulab Singh founded the kingdom of Kashmir, which survived under his heirs for over a century.

Based largely on primary sources in English, Persian, and Urdu, this new biography provides fresh insights into Gulab Singh’s motives and policies, and brings into focus his role as fiefholder, Raja, and Maharaja, and as a man, soldier, and politician. However, the book is more than a portrait of a man. It sheds light on the entire diplomatic history of northwestern India during the period.

This big and important biography is exceptionally well written. The author’s narrative skill provides a fascinating picture of the diplomatic intrigue, sadistic tortures, the licentious activities of the Sikh army, and the economic exploitation of the common people.

Biotransformation of Waste Biomass into High Value Biochemicals || Surinder Kaur, Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Saurabh Jyoti Sarma, Satinder Kaur Brar (auth.), Satinder Kaur Brar, Gurpreet Singh Dhillon, Carlos Ricardo Soccol (eds.) Springer New York : Imprint : Springer, 10.1007/97, 2014
Agro-industrial wastes are end-products emerging after industrial processing operations and also from their treatment and disposal e.g. solid fruit wastes and sludge. The agro-industrial wastes are often present in multiphase and comprise multicomponent. Nevertheless, these wastes are a goldmine as they possess valuable organic matter which can be diverted towards high value products ranging from polymers to antibiotics to platform chemicals. There have been plenty of books published on bioenergy, enzymes and organic acids, among others. However, this emerging field of biochemical has not yet been covered so far which is an important entity of the biorefinery model from waste biomass and needs to be understood from fundamental, applied as well as commercial perspective which has been laid out in this book. This book will be practical and must-have for academicians, researchers, graduate students and industry scientists working in the fields of Industrial microbiology, biotechnology, Bioprocess Technology, Waste Management and the Food Industry. The book covers different biochemicals: such as bioactive secondary metabolites; functional food products, pharmaceutical compounds and others; includes the general concepts of pre-treatment and carbon sequestration which are fundamental to their complexity and value-addition; examines thoroughly the production and cost-economics approach, wherever the biochemical has been commercialized. < Further, the book chapters have been prepared in a lucid manner edited and revised by a team of expert editors, namely Dr. Brar who has been working in the field of bioprocessing of waste biomass for the past 15 years; Prof. Soccol, a well-known expert in the field of fermentation and bioproducts for over 30 years and Dr. Dhillon who has been researching the diverse gamut of biotransformation to biochemicals for the past 10 years. Given the simple manner of presentation of production of different biochemicals from waste biomass under the edition of three biotechnological experts in tandem with the diverse audience that the book addresses, it’s a haven for biorefinery protagonists.

Reward is enough David Silver & Satinder Singh & Doina Precup & Richard S. Sutton x, 2021
Artificial Intelligence, 299 (2021) 103535. 10.1016/j.artint.2021.103535In this article we hypothesise that intelligence, and its associated abilities, can beunderstood as subserving the maximisation of reward. Accordingly, reward is enough todrive behaviour that exhibits abilities studied in natural and artificial intelligence, includingknowledge, learning, perception, social intelligence, language, generalisation and imitation. This is in contrast to the view that specialised problem formulations are needed for eachKeywords:ability, based on other signals or objectives. Furthermore, we suggest that agents that learnthrough trial and error experience to maximise reward could learn behaviour that exhibitsArtificial intelligencemost if not all of these abilities, and therefore that powerful reinforcement learning agentsArtificial general intelligenceReinforcement learningcould constitute a solution to artificial general intelligence.Reward© 2021 The Authors. My Indian peregrinations : the private letters of Charles Stewart Hardinge, 1844-1847 Charles Stewart Hardinge; Bawa Satinder Singh Lubbock, Tex., USA: Texas Tech University Press, Lubbock, Tex., USA, Texas, 2001
At Fatehpur Sikri there is a gateway about 120 feet high, the largest in the world. The city is now a picture of desolationa sad remnant of the fallen grandeur of the Moguls. Ruins meet the eye in every direction for miles, and you see the wild jackals inhabiting the marble tombs which once could boast of lofty minarets. To Sarah, November 5, 1845Charles Stewart Hardinge was twenty-one when he went to India as private secretary to his father, Sir Henry Hardinge, the governor general, from July 1844 to January 1848. Throughout his years in India, the younger Hardinge kept up an extensive correspondence with his family in Europe. Bawa Satinder Singh has brought Hardinges letters together in an extensively annotated edition, providing an intimate and privileged look at a British officials life in India during the mid- to late 1840s. Chronicling such diverse subjects as the Sikh war, the Kashmir insurrection, and the opium trade, My Indian Peregrinations provides both immediacy and context to scholars of colonial India, imperial culture, and nineteenth-century Britain. Hardinge vividly describes events, personalities, and ideologies at work in India during this critical period in the expansion and consolidation of British rule. Because Hardinge was also an accomplished artist, the letters are a fascinating study of his aesthetic sensibilities, which Singh augments with previously unpublished sketches from Hardinges years in India.

Spirituality in the Workplace : What It Is, Why It Matters, How to Make It Work for You Dr. Joan Marques, Dr. Satinder Dhiman, Dr. Richard King, Joan Marques Fawnskin, CA: Personhood Press, Independent Publishers Group, Fawnskin, CA, 2007
Doing away with the misconception that a spiritual workplace is a religious workplace, this argument in favor of spiritual workplaces explains how the quality of life of workers is enhanced by such spaces. A more effective and efficient way of getting the job done with an immediately positive impact on the bottom line is promised to those who commit to workplace spiritual fulfillment for all stakeholders: employees, owners, customers, suppliers, competitors, and even society as a whole. Readers are introduced to prominent thinkers in the field of workplace spirituality and their theories, publications written on the topic are extensively reviewed, and each page is highlighted with a boxed catchphrase for easy comprehension of the page's material. Suggestions are offered for both personal and organizational contributions to a spiritual work environment.

Chapman and Hall/CRC, 2022
Making use of digital technology for social care is a major responsibility of the computing domain. Social care services require attention for ease in social systems, e-farming, and automation, etc. Thus, the book focuses on suggesting software solutions for supporting social issues, such as health care, learning about and monitoring for disabilities, and providing technical solutions for better living. Technology is enabling people to have access to advances so that they can have better health. To undergo the digital transformation, the current processes need to be completely re-engineered to make use of technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), big data analytics, artificial intelligence, and others. Furthermore, it is also important to consider digital initiatives in tandem with their cloud strategy instead of treating them in isolation. At present, the world is going through another, possibly even stronger revolution: the use of recent computing models to perform complex cognitive tasks to solve social problems in ways that were previously either highly complicated or extremely resource intensive. This book not only focuses the computing technologies, basic theories, challenges, and implementation but also covers case studies. It focuses on core theories, architectures, and technologies necessary to develop and understand the computing models and their applications. The book also has a high potential to be used as a recommended textbook for research scholars and post-graduate programs. The book deals with a problem-solving approach using recent tools and technology for problems in health care, social care, etc. Interdisciplinary studies are emerging as both necessary and practical in universities. This book helps to improve computational thinking to "understand and change the world’. It will be a link between computing and a variety of other fields. Case studies on social aspects of modern societies and smart cities add to the contents of the book to enhance book adoption potential. This book will be useful to undergraduates, postgraduates, researchers, and industry professionals. Every chapter covers one possible solution in detail, along with results.

Warriors after War: Indian and Pakistani Retired Military Leaders Reflect on Relations between the Two Countries, Past, Present and Future (Studies in the History of Religious and Political Pluralism) Richard J. Bonney, Trividesh Singh Maini, Tahir Javed Malik Peter Lang AG, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften, Studies in the History of Religious and Political Pluralism, New edition, 2011
The inspiration for this book arose from the opening of the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus route on 7 April 2005, the first direct link between the two parts of divided Kashmir since 1947. The original impetus for change in the region arose not from politicians but from ex-military figures in Pakistan and India who had made a direct approach to the Institute for Multi-Track Diplomacy (IMTD), an independent, not-for-profit organization in the United States headed by former US Ambassador John W. McDonald. Most of the twenty-six retired military figures from India and Pakistan interviewed in this book accept that with both countries possessing nuclear weapons since 1998, choosing war to resolve outstanding disputes is no longer a sensible or realistic option. They differ greatly, however, in their analysis of the opportunities and pathways towards a sustainable peace in South Asia, with the greatest divergence of views on the Kashmir dispute. The material contained in the interviews is enhanced with biographical and other notes, along with a comprehensive introduction and conclusion. The detailed Appendices provide an analysis of religious-based extremist violence in Kashmir and Pakistan. Erscheinungsdatum: 16.06.2011
