It also follows the development of tropes and iconic images from the first city state of Uruk and their mouvance between myth, image, and royal inscription, historiography and myth, and myth and ritual, suggesting that, with the help of scholars, key royal figures were responsible for introducing new directions for the ideological discourse and for promoting new forms of historiography.</P></body></html>

The text begins with brief descriptions of the water and wastewater treatment industries. It then describes some of the basics of energy and discusses what planning for a sustainable energy future in water and wastewater treatment plants entails. The author explores energy-saving options and provides case studies to demonstrate how some facilities have used equipment, technology, and operating strategies to save money and reduce their impact. The energy-efficient technologies include combined heat and power (CHP), gas turbines, microturbines, reciprocating engines, steam turbines, and fuel cells. The author also addresses biomass power and biogas.

In ancient Mesopotamia, the functions of the temple were manifold. It could operate as an administrative center, as a center of learning, as a place of jurisdiction, as a center for healing, and as an economic institution, as indicated in both textual and archaeological sources. All these functions involved numerous and diverse personnel and generated interaction with the surrounding world, thereby turning the temple into the center of urban life. Because the temple fulfilled all these functions in addition to housing the divinity, it acquired agency in its own right. Thus, temple, city, and divinity could merge into concerted action. It is this aspect of the temple that lies at the center of the following considerations.

Addressing the relationship between religion and ideology, and drawing on a range of literary, ritual, and visual sources, this book reconstructs the cultural discourse of Assyria from the third through the first millennium BCE. Ideology is delineated here as a subdiscourse of religion rather than as an independent category, anchoring it firmly within the religious world view. Tracing Assur's cultural interaction with the south on the one hand, and with the Syro-Anatolian horizon on the other, this volume articulates a "northern" cultural discourse that, even while interacting with southern Mesopotamian tradition, managed to maintain its own identity. It also follows the development of tropes and iconic images from the first city state of Uruk and their mouvance between myth, image, and royal inscription, historiography and myth, and myth and ritual, suggesting that, with the help of scholars, key royal figures were responsible for introducing new directions for the ideological discourse and for promoting new forms of historiography. In the last months of his long life, Cardinal Konig expressed the wish to record what was most important as a way forward for the Church and for Christians generally. At a time when the Austrian Church was rocked by scandal (paedophile priests, pornography in seminaries, the corpse of a dead priest floating down the Danube) this wise and holy man has been and will continue to be seen as a man of quite exceptional importance. The book, all written in the first person, is concerned with openness - that openness advocated by John XXIII when he talked of opening the windows of the Church to the modern world. In this Cardinal Konig was a pioneer and his influence on Vatican II was crucial. In this very personal book, Konig often talks of people he met and corresponded with, and his experiences on extensive travels behind what was then termed The Iron Curtain. There is also a beautiful chapter on personal prayer - the all important personal dialogue with God. He recounts how he learned a great deal from a Parsee family in Bombay and talks of his conversations with God in the last years of his life. At a time when religion is so often a cause of dissent, conflict and even murder, Konig's views on dialogue with other Christians and other religions have a particular pertinence and will be seen to be prophetic
