پرویز ثابتی در سی و سومین سالروز رفتن شاه در 26 دی و آمدن آیت‌الله خمینی به ایران در 12 بهمن 1357، شرکت کتاب در لس انجلس، کتاب تاریخی مشهوری را به زیر چاپ برد. «در دامگه حادثه»، کتابی است که در آن عرفان قانعی فرد – محقق تاریخ معاصر - با پرویز ثابتی – مقام امنیتی مهم و مشهور دوران محمد رضا شاه پهلوی – به گفتگویی مبسوط نشسته است و در آن کتاب به بررسی حوادث سالهای 1337 – 1357 پرداخته شده، این کتاب در 680 صفحه، در قطع وزیری، در ایام سالروز انقلاب، در 5500 نسخه در اختیار علاقمندان در سراسر جهان، قرار می گیرد. ساواک - سازمان امنیت و اطلاعات کشور - از سال ۱۳۳۵ تا ۱۳۵۷، سازمان اصلی پلیس امنیتی و اطلاعاتی ایران که افرادی مانند تیمور بختیار، حسن پاکروان، نعمت‌اله نصیری و ناصر مقدم، به ترتیب ریاست آن را بر عهده داشتند. اداره سوم یا امنیت داخلی، یکی از مهم‌ترین ادارات این سازمان امنیتی بود که شاید با پر حادثه‌ترین دوران تاریخ معاصر ایران، همگام بوده. یکی از مشهورترین مقام‌ها و عاقبت، روسای مطرح این اداره، پرویز ثابتی است و شاید گفته‌های او، برای محققان تاریخ، بسیار حائز اهمیت باشد و افرادی او را مخزن‌الاسرار و بانک اسرار ناگفته حکومت گذشته می‌نامند که در 22 بهمن 1357 فروپاشید.
