The International Labour Organization’s (ILO) efforts since the early 1990s to address the forced labour situation in Myanmar represent a rare example of success in influencing the behaviour of that regime, and this book gives a first-hand account of these efforts. As the ILO’s representative in the country, the author was able to operate a complaint system for victims of forced labour, resulting in prosecutions of government officials and an end to many abuses. In addition to giving a fascinating insider’s account of how this was achieved, and the many challenges encountered, the book examines in detail why one of the most repressive military regimes allowed the ILO to operate a complaints mechanism in the first place, and why it felt the need to take action in response to some of those complaints. This book will make a significant contribution to thinking on how to influence authoritarian regimes, as well as understanding the dynamic of relations with Myanmar. As such it is an essential read for scholars of international relations and global governance, human rights, international law and Southeast Asian studies.

The publications of the Hakluyt Society (founded in 1846) made available edited (and sometimes translated) early accounts of exploration. The first series, which ran from 1847 to 1899, consists of 100 books containing published or previously unpublished works by authors from Christopher Columbus to Sir Francis Drake, and covering voyages to the New World, to China and Japan, to Russia and to Africa and India. This volume contains two narratives about Russia: Of the Russe Common Wealth by Giles Fletcher, Queen Elizabeth's ambassador to the Russian court in 1588, and a transcription of the manuscript account of the travels of Sir Jerome Horsey, who lived in Russia from 1575 to 1591, firstly as an agent of the English Russia Company, and later as a diplomat. Appendices include Horsey's description of the coronation of Tsar Fyodor I in 1584.

The story is quite short but very interesting and funny. It shows us quite simple even everyday situation. The story tells us about the event that happened to Major-General Buldeeff who had a terrible toothache but didn’t want to have it pulled out as a dentist suggested him. His steward Ivan Evceitch told him about a conjuror for the toothache. Major-General Buldeeff decided to write to him but unfortunately Ivan Evceitch couldn’t remember his name, he remembers just that it was a horsey name. all members of the family tried to help the steward to remember the name giving different variants, but he couldn’t. After a sleepless night Major-General Buldeeff decided to have the tooth pulled out. The story ended with Ivan Evceitch’s remembering the name but there was no use in it.

It is a fictional story based, loosely, on his experiences there as an Organ Procurement Coordinator. During this time in Robert's career, he was afforded the extreme honor of working with donor families as they navigated the waters of grief and the unexpected loss of their loved one. He was allowed into their lives during what would seem to be their most devastating and vulnerable moments. The compassion that they were able to muster is the reason for this story. It was written as a tribute to each of them and the thousands of donor families around the country that provide the gift of life through the selfless act of organ and tissue donation.
