Neuro-Stratégies, Comment Prendre Soin de Son Cerveau Pendant le Confinement. Et Après ! Jean-Dominique Michel & Mark Robert Waldman [Michel, Jean-Dominique & Waldman, Mark Robert] Éd. Humensis, US, 2020

Words Can Change Your Brain : 12 Conversation Strategies to Build Trust, Resolve Conflict, and Increase Intima Cy Newberg, Andrew B; Robert, Mark Waldman Penguin Group US, Penguin Random House LLC, [Place of publication not identified], 2012
In our default state, our brains constantly get in the way of effective communication. They are lazy, angry, immature, and distracted. They can make a difficult conversation impossible. But Andrew Newberg, M.D., and Mark Waldman have discovered a powerful strategy called Compassionate Communication that allows two brains to work together as one. Using brain scans as well as data collected from workshops given to MBA students at Loyola Marymount University, and clinical data from both couples in therapy and organizations helping caregivers cope with patient suffering, Newberg and Waldman have seen that Compassionate Communication can reposition a difficult conversation to lead to a satisfying conclusion. Whether you are negotiating with your boss or your spouse, the brain works the same way and responds to the same cues. The truth, though, is that you don't have to understand how Compassionate Communication works. You just have to do it. Some of the simple and effective takeaways in this book include: • Make sure you are relaxed; yawning several times before (not during) the meeting will do the trick • Never speak for more than 20-30 seconds at a time. After that, the other person's window of attention closes. • Use positive speech; you will need at least three positives to overcome the effect of every negative used • Speak slowly; pause between words. This is critical, but really hard to do. • Respond to the other person; do not shift the conversation. • Remember that the brain can only hold onto about four ideas at one time Highly effective across a wide range of settings, Compassionate Communication is an excellent tool for conflict resolution but also for simply getting your point across or delivering difficult news.ANDREW NEWBERG, M.D., is the director of research at the Myrna Brind Center of Integrative Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He lives in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.MARK ROBERT WALDMAN is adjunct faculty at Loyola Marymount University. He lives in Los Angeles.

How God Changes Your Brain : Breakthrough Findings From a Leading Neuroscientist Newberg, Andrew B; Robert, Mark Waldman Ballantine Books, Penguin Random House LLC, New York, NY, 2009
From Publishers Weekly Over the past decade or so, numerous studies have suggested that prayer and meditation can enhance physical health and healing from illness. In this stimulating and provocative book, two academics at the University of Pennsylvania's Center for Spirituality and the Mind contend that contemplating God actually reduces stress, which in turn prevents the deterioration of the brain's dendrites and increases neuroplasticity. The authors conclude that meditation and other spiritual practices permanently strengthen neural functioning in specific parts of the brain that aid in lowering anxiety and depression, enhancing social awareness and empathy, and improving cognitive functioning. The book's middle section draws on the authors' research on how people experience God and where in the brain that experience might be located. Finally, the authors offer exercises for enhancing physical, mental and spiritual health. Their suggestions are commonsensical and common to other kinds of health regimens: smile, stay intellectually active, consciously relax, yawn, meditate, exercise aerobically, dialogue with others and trust in your beliefs. Although the book's title is a bit misleading, since it is not God but spiritual practice that changes the brain, this forceful study could stir controversy among scientists and philosophers. Illus. Review To this musty debate, Newberg, perhaps America's leading expert on the neurological basis of religion, brings a fresh perspective. His new book summarizes several years of groundbreaking research on the biological basis of religious experience. And it offers plenty to challenge skeptics and believers alike.--Michael Gersons editorial dedicated to the book for The Washington Post The authors present an elaborate, engaging meditation program to reduce anger and fear and increase serenity and love. They embrace faith (not necessarily religious), diversity, tolerance, and compassionate communication. . . . A substantial advance in the self-help/spirituality genre and an excellent choice for general collections. _Library Journal_ _ _ Andrew Newberg and Mark Robert Waldman give us a magnificent, comprehensive explanation of how spiritual beliefs and experiences enhance changes in our brains and yield better health and well-being. They bring science and religion closer together.Herbert Benson, M.D., author of The Relaxation Response How God Changes Your Brain is a highly practical, easy-to-read guide on the interface between spirituality and neuroscience, filled with useful information that can make your brain and your life better, starting today!Daniel G. Amen, M.D. author of _Change Your Brain, Change Your Life _ Not since William Jamess The Varieties of Religious Experience has there been a work that so exquisitely integrates science and spirituality. Newberg and Waldman have written a book that is wise, up-to-date, scholarly, mature, and imaginative. At the same time it is a down-to-earth work that will surely inspire repeated readings.George Vaillant, M.D., author of Spiritual Evolution How God Changes Your Brain boldly explores the relationship between the structure of our brains and our ability not only to experience but to cultivate innate compassion and deep inner peace. Jill Bolte Taylor, Ph.D., author of My Stroke of Insight The authors present an illuminating and encouraging view of the inner and outer workings of our neurological perception of reality and how profoundly it is affected by our spiritual practices. Their practical exercises for a brain tune-up are revolutionary, and Im enjoying immensely including them in my daily spiritual regime. Michael Bernard Beckwith, author of _Spiritual Liberation Stimulating and provocative. . . .The authors conclude that meditation and other spiritual practices permanently strengthen neural functioning in specific parts of the brain that aid in lowering anxiety and depression, enhancing social awareness and empathy, and improving cognitive functioning.. . . this forceful study could stir controversy among scientists and philosophers.

Born to Believe : God, Science, and the Origin of Ordinary and Extraordinary Beliefs Andrew B. Newberg, Andrew Newberg, Mark Robert Waldman New York: Free Press, Reprint edition, October 2, 2007

Born to Believe was previously published in hardcover as Why We Believe What We Believe.

Prayer...meditation...speaking in tongues. What do these spiritual activities share and how do they differ? Why do some people believe in God, while others embrace atheism? From the ordinary to the extraordinary, beliefs give meaning to the mysteries of life. They motivate us, provide us with our individual uniqueness, and ultimately change the structure and function of our brains.

In Born to Believe, Andrew Newberg, MD, and Mark Waldman reveal — for the very first time — how our complex views, memories, superstitions, morals, and beliefs are created by the neural activities of the brain. Supported by groundbreaking original research, they explain how our brains construct our deepest convictions and fondest assumptions about reality and the world around us. Using science, psychology, and religion, the authors offer recommendations for exercising your brain in order to develop a more life-affirming, flexible range of attitudes. Knowing how the brain builds meaning, value, spirituality, and truth into your life will change forever the way you look at yourself and the world.

Mark Rothko (1903-1970) Was Among The Greatest Painters Of His Generation. His Closest Friends And Colleagues Were New Yorkers, And New York Was The City In Which He Lived And Worked. It Is Fitting, Then, That The City's Five Largest Art Museums - The Brooklyn Museum, The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, The Metropolitan Museum Of Art, The Museum Of Modern Art, And The Whitney Museum Of American Art - Should Together Hold One Of The Richest And Most Varied Collections Of This Extraordinary Painter's Work. This Volume Illustrates Every Work By Rothko In These Great Museums In Glowing Full-color Reproductions And, In The Process, Surveys His Entire Career. Although Rothko Is Most Famous For His Luminous Color-field Canvases, He Also Created Early Figurative Oils And Delicate Surrealist Fantasies In Watercolor And Oil.--book Jacket. By Diane Waldman. Catalog Of Rothko's Works Held In New York City's Major Art Museums. Includes Bibliographical References (p. [138]-142).
