Analytical evaluation of nonlinear distortion effects on multicarrier signals Araújo, Theresa, Dinis, Rui CRC Press, Taylor et Francis Group, CRC Press (Unlimited), Boca Raton, FL, 2015
Due to their ability to support reliable high quality of service as well as spectral and power efficiency, multicarrier modulation systems have found increasing use in modern communications services. However, one of the main drawbacks of these systems is their vulnerability to nonlinear distortion effects. Analytical Evaluation of Nonlinear Distortion Effects on Multicarrier Signals details a unified approach to well-known analytical results on memoryless nonlinearities that takes advantage of the Gaussian behavior of multicarrier signals. Sharing new insights into the behavior of nonlinearly distorted multicarrier signals, the book begins with a review of the fundamental principles of multicarrier transmission and multicarrier-based systems. Next, it covers well-known results on nonlinear distortion of Gaussian signals and examines the accuracy of the use of Gaussian approximation for evaluating nonlinear effects. It also considers the performance of various multicarrier-based systems in the presence of different types of nonlinear devices. Describes general clipping and filtering techniques to reduce the envelope fluctuations of multicarrier signals Analyzes quantization effects caused by the numerical accuracy required in the DFT computations Discusses quantization requirements of analog-to-digital converters Redefines loading techniques to take into account nonlinear distortion issues on adaptive multicarrier systems Examines the impact of nonlinear signal processing techniques for reducing the envelope fluctuations of OFDMA signals Presents performance results for all the discussed applications The book covers the essential principles of multicarrier modulations, including OFDM modulations and other multicarrier schemes. It describes multicarrier modulation systems that will be used in next-generation communications systems and also provides new insight into the behavior of nonlinearly distorted multicarrier signals. Illustrating the application of the nonlinear distortion analysis techniques presented, the book provides you with a wide range of analytical tools to assess the effects of nonlinearities on the performance of multicarrier-based schemes.

nexusstc/Mobile Crowdsourcing: From Theory to Practice/cbd0bfd00c4922d2a3819d416db08652.pdf
Mobile Crowdsourcing : From Theory to Practice Jie Wu, En Wang Springer International Publishing AG, Wireless networks, S.l, 2023
This book offers the latest research results in recent development on the principles, techniques and applications in mobile crowdsourcing. It presents state-of-the-art content and provides an in-depth overview of the basic background in this related field. Crowdsourcing involves a large crowd of participants working together to contribute or produce goods and services for the society. The early 21st century applications of crowdsourcing can be called crowdsourcing 1.0, which includes businesses using crowdsourcing to accomplish various tasks, such as the ability to offload peak demand, access cheap labor, generate better results in a timely matter, and reach a wider array of talent outside the organization. Mobile crowdsensing can be described as an extension of crowdsourcing to the mobile network to combine the idea of crowdsourcing with the sensing capacity of mobile devices. As a promising paradigm for completing complex sensing and computation tasks, mobile crowdsensing serves the vital purpose of exploiting the ubiquitous smart devices carried by mobile users to make conscious or unconscious collaboration through mobile networks. Considering that we are in the era of mobile internet, mobile crowdsensing is developing rapidly and has great advantages in deployment and maintenance, sensing range and granularity, reusability, and other aspects. Due to the benefits of using mobile crowdsensing, many emergent applications are now available for individuals, business enterprises, and governments. In addition, many new techniques have been developed and are being adopted. This book will be of value to researchers and students targeting this topic as a reference book. Practitioners, government officials, business organizations and even customers -- working, participating or those interested in fields related to crowdsourcing will also want to purchase this book.

nexusstc/Joint Source-Channel Decoding. A Cross-Layer Perspective with Applications in Video Broadcasting over Mobile and Wireless Networks/a38c8ef0f1281f1ae83b41f98f3baec5.pdf
Joint source-channel decoding : a cross-layer perspective with applications in video broadcasting over mobile and wireless networks Pierre Duhamel and Michel Kieffer (Auth.) Academic Press, Incorporated, EURASIP and Academic Press series in signal and image processing, 1st ed, Amsterdam, 2010
* Treats joint source and channel decoding in an integrated way * Gives a clear description of the problems in the field together with the mathematical tools for their solution * Contains many detailed examples useful for practical applications of the theory to video broadcasting over mobile and wireless networks Traditionally, cross-layer and joint source-channel coding were seen as incompatible with classically structured networks but recent advances in theory changed this situation. Joint source-channel decoding is now seen as a viable alternative to separate decoding of source and channel codes, if the protocol layers are taken into account. A joint source/protocol/channel approach is thus addressed in this book: all levels of the protocol stack are considered, showing how the information in each layer influences the others. This book provides the tools to show how cross-layer and joint source-channel coding and decoding are now compatible with present-day mobile and wireless networks, with a particular application to the key area of video transmission to mobiles. Typical applications are broadcasting, or point-to-point delivery of multimedia contents, which are very timely in the context of the current development of mobile services such as audio (MPEG4 AAC) or video (H263, H264) transmission using recent wireless transmission standards (DVH-H, DVB-SH, WiMAX, LTE). This cross-disciplinary book is ideal for graduate students, researchers, and more generally professionals working either in signal processing for communications or in networking applications, interested in reliable multimedia transmission. This book is also of interest to people involved in cross-layer optimization of mobile networks. Its content may provide them with other points of view on their optimization problem, enlarging the set of tools which they could use. **Pierre Duhamel** is director of research at CNRS/ LSS and has previously held research positions at Thomson-CSF, CNET, and ENST, where he was head of the Signal and Image Processing Department. He has served as chairman of the DSP committee and associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing and Signal Processing Letters, as well as acting as a co-chair at MMSP and ICASSP conferences. He was awarded the Grand Prix France Telecom by the French Science Academy in 2000. He is co-author of more than 80 papers in international journals, 250 conference proceedings, and 28 patents. **Michel Kieffer** is an assistant professor in signal processing for communications at the Université Paris-Sud and a researcher at the Laboratoire des Signaux et Systèmes, Gif-sur-Yvette, France. SSL and TLS: Theory and Practice, 3rd Edition Rolf Oppliger Artech House, 3RD ED, BOSTON, 2023
Now in its Third Edition, this completely revised and updated reference provides a thorough and comprehensive introduction into the SSL, TLS, and DTLS protocols, explaining all the details and technical subtleties and showing how the current design helps mitigate the attacks that have made press headlines in the past. The book tells the complete story of TLS, from its earliest incarnation (SSL 1.0 in 1994), all the way up to and including TLS 1.3. Detailed descriptions of each protocol version give you a full understanding of why the protocol looked like it did, and why it now looks like it does. You will get a clear, detailed introduction to TLS 1.3 and understand the broader context of how TLS works with firewall and network middleboxes, as well the key topic of public infrastructures and their role in securing TLS. You will also find similar details on DTLS, a close sibling of TLS that is designed to operate over UDP instead of TCP. The book helps you fully understand the rationale behind the design of the SSL, TLS, and DTLS protocols and all of its extensions. It also gives you an in-depth and accessible breakdown of the many vulnerabilities in earlier versions of TLS, thereby more fully equipping you to properly configure and use the protocols in the field and protect against specific (network-based) attacks. With its thorough discussion of widely deployed network security technology, coupled with its practical applications you can utilize today, this is a must-have book for network security practitioners and software/web application developers at all levels.

nexusstc/Internet Transport Economics/a0058b5cb262e9a602b8a0ddf76ed5e5.pdf
Internet Transport Economics Richard T. B. Ma Springer International Publishing Springer, Synthesis Lectures on Learning, Networks, and Algorithms, Synthesis Lectures on Learning, Networks, and Algorithms, 2022
This book presents Internet transport economics as a new approach to understanding the packet-switching paradigm of Internet infrastructure as a global transport system for data packets. It is a prescient view of the Internet’s evolution into a content-centric service platform where the quality of services (QoS) cannot be guaranteed due to the tens of thousands of autonomous systems that enact business decisions on peering, routing, and pricing in a way that determines aspects of the Internet ecosystem like network topology, latency and throughput of traffic flows, and performance of network applications. The trafficking issues created in this environment are a critical concern and barrier for user applications that require real-time responses, such as telesurgery and teleoperation of autonomous vehicles, and the book presents the Internet transport economics model as the solution. While engineering and business are the prevailing lenses through which the Internet is viewed, the book builds its methodological framework around transport. Further delving into economics, it establishes how the Internet can be understood as providing transport services for data packets, whose demand and supply are driven by the QoS metrics of delay and loss, which can be regarded as congestion costs that result in equilibrium rates of traffic flows sent by content providers (CPs). The book goes on to present a stylized model of content provider-to-access provider (CP–AP) service as well as congestion equilibrium and rate equilibrium solution concepts under the Internet transport economics framework. These are used to analyze the problem domains of service differentiation, market structure, and data pricing. Finally, it discusses various potential future applications. This book will be of interest to graduate students and researchers in areas of computer networking and performance evaluation. Erscheinungsdatum: 03.11.2022

There are numerous factors contributing to the dynamic growth of wireless communication systems we've been observing in the past 10 years, the most important being the increasing network user mobility and the technological advances in high-speed data transmission over radio channels. Research centres and standards-making institutions the world over conduct works on 3G integrated systems of person-to-person and person-to-computer communications, wireless counterparts of classical LAN, ATM and IP architectures, satellite and access networks as well as advanced service platforms like W AP and other concepts. Among the many commercial and non-profit organisations professionally involved in the development of the new information infrastructure, of particular influence is the International Federation for Information Processing. Within its Technical Committee TC-6, a working group WG 6.8 has been set up to co-ordinate IFIP activities in the area of wireless communications. It has done so, among others, by arranging regular meetings of academic and industrial researchers, known as IFIP TC-6 WG 6.8 Workshops on Personal Wireless Communications (pWC). Such workshops were held in recent years in Prague, Frankfurt/M, Tokyo and Copenhagen, and their success has resulted in the promotion of PWC to the status of IFIP Working Conference.
